Ray is a shareholder in the Business and Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Section. Prior to joining Cotton Bledsoe, Ray held positions at Honeywell International wherein he focused on negotiating complex global agreements and managing compliance issues. Most recently, Ray served as corporate counsel for BJ Services Company. At BJ Services, Ray was responsible for global sales and operations legal support, including structuring and drafting complex business transactions, resolving job problems and customer disputes, real estate transactions, acquisitions support, maritime transactions, and advising on compliance issues. Ray also led negotiations for many large international projects in China, India, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Transactional Work

Ray has significant experience in providing advice and preparing agreements that cover a variety of transactions, including master service agreements, international projects, purchase and sale agreements, free placement and time charter agreements, software licenses, transportation contracts, confidentiality agreements, international agency agreements, leases, and numerous other matters.

Title Examination

Ray also spends part of his practice examining oil and gas titles, rendering title opinions, and preparing the numerous documents prevalent in the oil and gas industry. Title opinions may be based on abstract examination or done by "stand-up" examination in the county clerk's office.
