Tevis is a founding member of the firm and is currently Of Counsel in the Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Section. He is licensed to practice in Texas. Tevis is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and served as Chairman of the Council of Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section of the State Bar of Texas in 1992-93.
AREAS OF CONCENTRATION
Oil and Gas Title Examination and Transactional Work
Tevis has always devoted his practice to oil and gas law, including rendering title opinions, preparing documents relating to oil and gas exploration and production, and consulting with clients concerning a multitude of oil and gas transactions. His practice includes preparation of assignments, leases, farmout/farm in agreements, operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, easements, gas contracts, and other documents relating to the oil and gas business.
Oil and Gas Litigation
Tevis has frequently joined with members of the firms Litigation Section in presenting complex oil and gas cases to trial and appellate courts throughout the state. In 1991, Tevis argued Luckel v. White before the Supreme Court of Texas, which resulted in the client successfully obtaining a decision confirming the "four-corners" doctrine for construction of mineral conveyances.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Tevis serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors of Memorial Foundation. He previously served as President of the Board of Trustees of Midland Memorial Foundation and as President of the Board of Directors of Midland County Hospital District. He also previously served as President of the Board of Directors of the Midland YMCA, and as President of the Board of Directors of the Permian Basin Center for Mental Health and Mental Retardation. He is on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Midland.
